European Smartphone Use Accelerates

A new study conducted by comSCore reveals that the UK had the largest number of smartphone users — 7.3 million — accessing bank accounts in July. Compared to last year this number has doubled. Five countries participated in the study: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, totaling 30 million Europeans who used their smartphone to access their bank accounts.

    In addition to accessing bank accounts via their smartphones, one in six smartphones users who participated in this survey now accesses online retail stores and apps on their device but only one in eight has completed a transaction.

    Again the UK was the largest market with 6.5M smartphone retail users, although it also had the least rapid growth rate at 74 percent.
