    General Manager, North America – PayPal

    Ed Eger is senior vice president and general manager of North America, PayPal’s largest business unit. In this role, he is responsible for establishing PayPal as the preferred online payment method for consumers and merchants in the U.S. and Canada. In addition to his North American responsibilities, he oversees the team responsible for PayPal’s global core payment processing and leads PayPal’s efforts in emerging markets around the world.

    In his 25-year career prior to joining PayPal, Eger ran a range of financial services businesses in North America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and Latin America. Before joining PayPal, he was CEO of Citigroup’s international consumer credit card business, an organization spanning 50 countries and serving more than 40 million customers worldwide. Previously, he served as executive vice president of Citi Cards North America and as the regional head of payment products for Citigroup’s Asia Pacific region.

    Prior to joining Citigroup, Eger served in senior executive roles with leading financial service companies, including Advanta/Fleet Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Wells Fargo & Co. He began his career at McKinsey & Company.

    Eger is a native of San Francisco. He received a BA in economics and mathematics from Claremont McKenna College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has served on several non-profit boards and remains active in community service.
