Microsoft Patent Alludes to Mobile Wallet Plans

A patent filed by tech giant Microsoft reveals the company has a digital wallet service in the works, according to a report by Tom’s Guide.

The patent, which was originally filed in September 2011, describes a “method that facilitates securing a wireless digital transaction” for goods and services. Microsoft’s patent further mentions the company’s intention to use devices that will contain mobile payment cards (m-cards), which will enable carries to utilize the up-and-coming trend of NFC payments.

The patent also disclosed Microsoft’s plans to protect carriers against fraud.

However, Microsoft did not reveal a timeline in which it plans to implement an NFC-based mobile wallet in Windows products.
