American Express Settles Over Cuba Travel Tickets

American Express settled with the U.S. Treasury Department on July 22 as part of a lawsuit over actions that date back to 2005, The Associated Press reported.

    The major issuer paid $5.2 million in civil liabilities for violating federal law when it sold 14,500 air travel tickets to and from Cuba and other countries outside the United States. The illegal sales took place from December 2005 to November 2011.
