Australia’s Westpac To Offer NFC Payments In 2014

Westpac, an Australian bank, offer NFC payment solutions to its customers in 2014, IDG Magazine reported on December 12.

Those with Android smartphones that feature NFC chips will be able to use mobile payment terminals owned at participating merchants.

In an interview, Westpac chief product officer David Lindberg said that a mobile payments service is a natural step for the bank, as many Australians are beginning to adopt the method.

“People are rarely separated from their mobile phones, and this delivers new, simple ways to pay or everyday shopping,” Lindberg explained.
