Digital Publisher Shares Mags With iBeacon

Leveraging Apple’s Bluetooth low energy (BLE) technology innovation iBeacon, a digital publisher in London has developed a new way to market digital magazine subscriptions, TechCrunch reported on December 4.

Exact Editions uses iBeacon to make its magazine titles available at locations with iBeacon-optimized mobile trigger systems. When a potential reader enters a location, like a cafe for example, they would have access to an issue of a magazine once their Apple device has been pinged, providing a useful channel for delivering content to consumers.

iBeacon is now in use at Macy’s. To learn more about how it is being deployed at the retailer, read our full report here
