French Railway Adopts VeriFone Mobile Payments Solution

French railway network, SNCF, announced it has selected VeriFone Systems’ PAYware Wynid payments solution to enable customers to purchase tickets through mobile payments, reported Banking Technology. The deployment commenced in April 2013, and distributed 1,000 handheld devices. The rail system estimates this number will result to over 12,000 by the end of August 2013.

    The payment device accepts both domestic and international EMV card payments, processes ticket purchases and gives customers invoices as well as passenger information.
