Gemalto Delivers eID Cards For South Africa

Gemalto, a digital security provider, has been chosen by South Africa for the country’s national electronic identity card program, reported the company in a press release. The cards are called Sealys eID cards, and Gemalto will use its software to store and protect the person’s image and biometric data.

    The eID has been created to replace South Africa’s old paper-based identity document, and will be distributed by the Department for Home Affairs for residents 16 and older.
