Alternate currency creator OpenCoin has received an undisclosed round of funding from major investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, FF Angel, LightSpeed Venture Partners and others, according to TechCrunch.
OpenCoin is the creator of Ripple, another open source virtual currency with some similarities to bitcoin. OpenCoin claims to be able to accommodate any currency, but offer more security than bitcoin thanks to a “unified” ledger that keeps track of accounts, transactions and balances.
