Report: AT&T Scraps HTC First Facebook Smartphone

A little more than one month after launching the HTC First and less than a week after it cut the price of the device to just 99 cents, sources say AT&T is set to discontinue the smartphone due to disappointing sales, mobile and tech news site BGR reports.

    “Our source at AT&T has confirmed that the HTC First, which is the first smartphone to ship with Facebook Home pre-installed, will soon be discontinued and unsold inventory will be returned to HTC,” BGR says.

    If the rumors prove true, the news outlet suggests that AT&T will continue to offer the phone to consumers until contractual obligations are fulfilled. BGR suggests that only 15,000 HTC Firsts have been sold in the first month, making it one of the more disappointing smartphone entries in recent memory.
