Report: Braintree Shops Itself To Square, PayPal

According to a TechCrunch report, payments gateway Braintree is on the block, shopping itself to the likes of Square, Google and PayPal.

    The report notes that Braintree is seeking a $1 billion valuation, and that talks with Google and Square have already fallen through. Talks with PayPal, however, could be ongoing.

    TechCrunch also notes that Braintree CEO Bill Ready has a history of getting companies acquired, most notably with iPay in 2010.
