Shopular’s Rides Mobile Deals To Sizeable Series A

Mobile coupon and shopping app Shopular has announced $6.4 million in fundraising as part of its latest funding round, TechCrunch reported on September 26.

The company’s mobile app works by running in the background on user smartphones, and alerting users of location-based sales or discounts.

Sequoia Capital led the Series A round. Following the announcement, Sequoia’s Tim Lee will join Shopular’s board of directors.

While notable, Shopular is just one of a number of new entrants into the mobile deal market. For more on Clipless, a mobile app calling itself “the personal assistant for deals,” read our interview with the company here.
