Fleet Company Ditches Outdated Paper Billing System

Volpe Express announced this week that it invested in a new back office management system for 24/7 bill entry processing and reporting through a cloud-based portal.

The less-than-truckload and truckload services provider chose DDC FPO technology, according to Fleet Owner, and said that it is also working with DDC FPO to build a separate, secure webpage as part of the new billing system. The news source reported that the new site lets DDC FPO billers to seamlessly log in and efficiently conduct high-quality bill entry processing and reporting.

Previously, Volpe’s billing system was paper-driven and ate up time, money and employees’ hours, according to Wendi Fitzsimmons, project manager for Volpe overseeing the DDC FPO program. Fitzsimmons added that quality issues were rampant, which created a detrimental domino effect worse than the initial cost issue.

“Typically in a system and department transition such as this, we would expect several bumps in the road,” Fitzsimmons said, according to Fleet Owner. “On the contrary, there has been very little to fix, and we are quite pleased with the results.”

The fleet industry is changing, and more companies are becoming aware of the fact to integrate new technologies. PYMNTS.com reported last month on the fact that some industry experts believe both large and small companies can remain major players if they know how to play to their strengths and properly integrate new systems.
