‘Smart’ Sears Stores Introduced

Retail giant Sears is introducing three flagship stores in Illinois this month called “Connected Solutions.”

According to a recent Twice article, the new retail locations will provide a selection of smart, connected home and personal automation devices across the CE, fitness, automotive, home and mobile categories.

Sears’ Holdings CE VP Jim Pearse told the news source that the locations will be 1,700-square-feet and feature live product displays. Furthermore, the initiative will help customers “learn how they connect, work and fit into their daily lives.” Pearse added that no other retailer is currently undergoing such a project.

Sears’ Holdings deputy VP for in-store experience and design Craig LaRosa agreed that this was a groundbreaking innovation for his company.

“Many of our members are aware of smart devices or home-automation products but don’t fully understand how they are used to make their lives better,” LaRosa told the news source. “Connected Solutions offers an entertaining and interactive environment to learn about the products.”

Some of the products to be featured in the new Sears stores are smart watches, streaming-media devices, health monitors and the company’s own Craftsman Assurelink garage door opener that can notify homeowners when the door is opened and closed.
