VeriFone Sells Global Bay

Supply-chain commerce vendor Manhattan Associates has acquired GlobalBay Technologies from VeriFone, the companies said on Tuesday (Aug. 12). Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Manhattan Associates currently offers inventory and fulfillment functionality. The GlobalBay acquisition will add mobile point-of-sale and customer relations capabilities. The combination will let store associates see a complete, omnichannel view of the customer, sell any unit of inventory across the entire retail network, and effortlessly handle cross-channel transactions such as returns and exchanges, according to Manhattan Associates.

“For our customers, this means that they will now have the ability to unlock the information that presents a single view of customers, orders, and inventory,” said Manhattan Associates CEO Eddie Capel. “This unique combination allows our customers to provide a complete sales and clienteling solution, including best-in-class inventory and order management capabilities to their stores and deliver the retail experience that the new, omnichannel shoppers expect.”

VeriFone’s GlobalBay Merchant, a tablet-based point-of-sale system for small retailers, was not part of the sale. VeriFone plans to rebrand that product line in the coming months.
