iPhone 6 owners will be able to command Siri to activate Apple Pay. According to Bank Innovation’s Ian Kar by commanding Siri to open a particular card, Apple’s passbook automatically opened, signaling the that Apple’s digital assistant and payments platforms are tied.
The integration with Siri provides an easy voice activated way to toggle between cards. But given that Bank Innovations testers still needed to verify their identity with Touch ID to make a purchase, it might in fact be quicker to log-in and tap a card.
However, for users with mobility issues or who suffer from blindness, voice activation will make it possible to use it.
Critics have noted that while the feature is interesting, it is actually less convenient than using a plastic card, which does not need to be spoken to in order to work.
