Merchants On WooCommerce, Square, GoDaddy Can Soon Integrate With Google

Merchants on WooCommerce, Square and GoDaddy will be able to integrate with Google in the near future at no cost, according to a Thursday (May 27) blog post from Google, which announced a slew of new and upcoming commerce features.

The blog post comes on the heels of the announcement at the Google I/O conference of a new integration with Shopify.

Google AR Foundation

“This open ecosystem approach means that retailers will have even more ways to get discovered across Google, and shoppers will have even more choice,” Google President of Commerce Bill Ready said in the post.

Google will also soon let brands curate how they appear on its platform by the way of lifestyle imagery, videos and interactive story formats at no cost, according to the post.

Google Shopping Deals

Identity Attributes

Ready said in the post that the last year “has made consumers more aware than ever that who they buy from shapes the world they live in.” He noted that 71 percent of consumers want to identify and purchase from firms that are in line with the values that matter most to them, citing a 5WPR study.

After a successful launch of a Black-owned business attribute earlier in 2021, Ready said in the post that Google will roll out new identity attributes, such as a women-led attribute, in the near future.

Google Loyalty

AR, Loyalty and Deals

Ready said in the post that consumers want to see how apparel will look on them. To meet this demand, Google is launching a new augmented reality (AR) clothing experience to show shoppers how various tops look on individuals like them.

Moreover, Google is testing a merchant loyalty program integration that lets consumers view a merchant’s special loyalty pricing and benefits, such as complimentary shipping, at the time that they initially begin shopping on Google, the post stated.

Google Unified Listings

At a later point in 2021, Google will also make it simpler for consumers to find a brand’s deals. To that end, Google will roll out a deals results page on Search and in the shopping tab. In addition, Ready noted in the post that live deal optimization reporting will be arriving in the Merchant Center.

Checkout Options

Google is also providing merchants with new methods to show shoppers every purchasing option that they provide, according to the post. With that effort, a merchant’s local inventory ads now have the ability to display merchandise that is available for immediate store pickup, curbside pickup or pick up later.

And, to assist brands in reaching additional nearby consumers, curbside pickup and in-store shopping labels are extending to YouTube and Maps local ads, the post stated.

In the near future, consumers will also see Shop Pay as a purchasing option for listings that have Buy on Google set up, providing them with additional choices for an “easy checkout experience,” according to the post.

Google Curated Brand

The new and upcoming features from Google come as the company unveiled new ways for users to pay for subscriptions and apps, PYMNTS reported.

Separately, a report recently surfaced that Google and Samsung intend to work together to release a new smartwatch operating system (OS).
