Target Adds New Features to Curbside Pickup Offering

Target

Target on Tuesday (Oct. 26) introduced enhancements to its Drive Up, Order Pickup and Same-Day Delivery with Shipt offerings that make it easier for customers to personalize their shopping experiences to fit their busy schedules heading into the holiday season.

Drive Up and Order Pickup orders are free and contactless and ready withing a couple of hours, while Same-Day Delivery with Shipt sees deliveries within an hour with no membership required.

“Our guests love the convenience of our same-day services, and we’ve seen tremendous growth in these offerings over the past year, driven by continued investments in our amazing team members and our stores,” Mark Schindele, chief stores officer, said in the company announcement.

This holiday season, guests will find more than 18,000 assigned spaces for curbside pickup; a new Shopping Partner feature that allows customers to send someone else to pick up their Drive Up or Order Pickup order; the ability to add more items to their Drive Up or Order Pickup orders after the initial checkout; designated backup items for food and beverage pickup; and more items available for Same-Day Delivery with Shipt.

Target is also training thousands of new workers for its shop-in-shop collaborations, which include beauty, tech, food and beverage, and more.

“With even more flexibility in these options this holiday season, we’re ready to make our guests’ Target runs easier than ever,” Schindele said.

Of course, Target isn’t the only major retailer with big plans for the holiday shopping season. Walmart announced last week that it is bringing back its Black Friday Deals for Days promotion this year, spreading the discounts that are usually restricted to one day over several weeks.

The first Black Friday savings event starts online Nov. 3 and continues in stores Nov. 5 with a focus on electronics. Apparel, home goods and other favorites will take center stage in the second Black Friday deal starting online Nov. 10 and continuing in stores Nov. 12. Walmart said it will reveal the details of the third and final Black Friday Deals for Days event later.
