Lululemon Deepens Push Into Women’s Sneakers With 3rd Launch in 4 Months

Canadian athleisure brand Lululemon isn’t letting its vow to expand its empire into menswear slow down its focus on its original core.

The company will unveil the Lululemon Chargefeel, a women’s training sneaker with a dual-density foam layering system, later this month, Footwear News reported.

The Chargefeel will mark Lululemon’s second sneaker launch in the past four months, and the shoe “allows for a spectrum of motion in all directions to accommodate for various athletic activities,” the report stated. It will be available in mid-top and low-top versions, each with different ranges of motion and stability, and will come in 14 colors and patterns.

“This is a truly versatile, multiactivity, multicategory offering,” said Lululemon Vice President of Footwear Design George Robusti in the report. The Chargefeel is built for high-intensity interval training workouts, boxing, dance and short runs.

“All that heel-to-toe motion that you get in a running shoe, you still have here,” he said, per the report, adding the Chargefeel is like a running shoe “with benefits.”

Lululemon is releasing several footwear options this year, the report said. It debuted the Blissfeel running shoe in March and a slide for recovery dubbed the Restfeel this summer. It plans to roll out the Strongfeel running shoe in the fall.

The line is focused on creating shoes specifically designed for the female foot, with an emphasis on its creation process, complete with multiple rounds of wear-testing and footwear scan data from more than 1 million feet, according to the report. The brand plans to launch a collection of men’s footwear in 2023.

In April, Lululemon Athletica said during its analyst day that the next five years of its journey will be led by the growth of its international, digital and menswear businesses.
