Mobile Banking App

The Mobile Banking App Report: Tapping Authentication To Boost User Engagement, a PYMNTS and Entersekt collaboration, explores how financial institutions can improve their mobile banking apps’ user experience (UX) to encourage their customers to download and use those apps for their everyday banking and payment needs. Our analysis draws from a census-balanced survey of 2,581 adult U.S. consumers on their current use of mobile banking apps to learn which features can go the longest way in boosting their broader adoption.
Inside the November study:
  • 37.6 percent: Share of consumers depositing checks who are more likely to do so via app than before the pandemic
  • 68.2 percent: Portion of banking app users who want transaction-specific authentication because of its added security
  • 42.4 percent: Share of non-banking app users who cite dissatisfaction with those apps’ UX as a reason they do not use them
