ISVs Can Link Software Into Clover POS Devices

Fiserv, which provides payments and financial services technology, has rolled out a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering, letting independent software vendors (ISVs) put software directly into Clover point-of-sale (POS) devices, according to a press release.

The move will allow “ISV software users to be more nimble in how and where they run their business,” the release stated. It will also enable ISVs to provide business customers with a whole platform to combine business software with secure payment acceptance and POS devices in the same place.

The new PaaS offering is part of Clover Connect from Fiserv, according to the release. Clover Connect lets software companies build new revenue streams, offer customers access to value-added services, boost new customer onboarding and improve retention of customers by streamlining the user experience.

The PaaS integration will help do away with counter clutter and make it so business owners don’t have to use back-and-forth toggling between screens or devices, the release stated. They also no longer need to keep a computer as well as a separate payment terminal on their desk or counter.

“Small and mid-sized businesses are the heart of our economy and the backbone of our communities, and we are committed to helping them succeed and access our services in the ways that suit them best,” said Brandon Lloyd, head of ISV at Clover, in the release. “By facilitating integration to Clover for our ISV partners, we’re enabling connections that are essential for efficient business operations, empowering software companies to grow their business and give their customers an edge in a rapidly evolving environment.”

Earlier this month, Fiserv bought BentoBox, a restaurant marketing and commerce platform. The goal is to put that company’s tech into Fiserv’s Clover restaurant tech solutions and to give Clover access to BentoBox’s website building products, digital ordering features and marketing tools.
