Auckland Transport, Telecom New Zealand and Westpac are among a half dozen firms involved in a New Zealand-based pilot evaluating the feasability of NFC in transit payments, NFC World says.

    Gemalto, Thales, and Paymark are also involved in the service test, which allows transit customers to buy tickets with an NFC-enabled phone.

    The trial is extremely limited for now, with 30 total users — each employed by one of the six companies — participating in initial tests.
