Cardtronics Expands Relationship With Carnival Cruise

Cardtronics, the ATM network operator, announced Monday (Nov. 21) it is expanding its ATM services relationship with Carnival Cruise Line in which it is becoming the exclusive provider of ATM services to guests and crew on board all of Carnival’s entire fleet of ships. Cardtronics has had an alliance with Carnival since 2009.

The deal also includes Cardtronics providing the ATM machines to the crew member sections of all of its ships. Cardtronics operates four ATMs on the ships, which total 25 as of now.

“Carnival Cruise Line has chosen to grow with Cardtronics, and we welcome the opportunity to make cash access easy and convenient for everyone on board a Carnival cruise ship,” said Jonathan Simpson-Dent, chief commercial officer of Cardtronics. Meanwhile, James Heaney, chief financial officer at Carnival Cruise, said it expanded its relationship because of its “commitment to dependability and service over the course of many years. We value that history highly in expanding our relationship.”

Cardtronics has been firing on all cylinders in recent weeks, announcing the expansion of another relationship last week. In that case, the ATM operator announced a new, long-term services agreement with The Kroger Co., the grocery retailer. In a press release, Cardtronics said the new agreement extends the relationship between the two companies, which started in 2010. Cardtronics owns around 1,300 ATMs in Kroger branded grocery and convenience stores. The vast majority of the ATMs participate in Allpoint Network, which is a surcharge-free ATM network and wholly owned subsidiary of Cardtronics.

“Our successful six-year relationship with the Kroger family of companies has been a growth story. Cardtronics has risen to become the largest single provider of ATM services to Kroger stores and its various local banner names nationwide,” said Simpson-Dent. “We look forward to continue serving Kroger, including the store traffic we plan to drive with our surcharge-free Allpoint Network, which has expanded its Kroger footprint along with Cardtronics over the years.”
