NFC: If “Not for Commerce,” Perhaps Useful As A Social Media Link?

Tagstand, an NFC-focused startup, issued 3,500 NFC-enabled bracelets to guests at a special event at the New York Public Library this week, according to TechCrunch.

The bracelets weren’t used to make payments, TechCrunch says, but instead linked event attendees to their social accounts, and let them easily check in to Facebook’s location service Facebook Places.
