Dunkin’ Donuts has passed the 10-million-downloads mark for its mobile payment and gifting app, according to Mobile Commerce Daily.

    The app, which was launched in 2012, lets customers pay for food, beverages and merchandise at participating U.S. locations by scanning their Dunkin’ loyalty cards stored in the app, either in-store or at the drive-through.

    Dunkin’ has also rolled out the ability for members to share their loyalty rewards with anyone via email from the app. Users can also sign up for auto-recharge directly through the Dunkin’ app.

    In addition, the chain plans to test mobile ordering late this year, and then expand the program in 2015, said Scott Hudler, VP of global consumer engagement at Dunkin’ Brands.

    Last year, Dunkin’ initiated a revamp of its loyalty strategy with a bigger mobile focus, modeled after that of its biggest competitor, Starbucks. The new version of the program, DD Perks, was launched nationwide in January 2014, and has signed up 2 million members.
