The frequency with which consumers lose their internet and data connections upon entering brick-and-mortar retail locations poses a problem to loyalty innovators hoping to take advantage of mobile connectivity, says Shopkick co-founder Cyriac Roeding.
Shopkick gets around that issue in part by relying on audio transmitters installed in their retail partner’s stores, Roeding explained to American Banker this week. But the device will need to be connected to the internet at some point after to give the user credit for their activity.
