French Mobile Operator Orange Finally Ready For NFC

Orange has recently announced a nationwide wide deployment of NFC SIM cards in France, covering 27 million subscribers. According to news site TechCrunch, Orange’s SIM solution is the first to have the same level of security as a smart card or chip based payment.

    In 2011, Orange sold 500,000 NFC-capable handsets in France and the UK. This number is expected to be significantly higher in 2012 as more of these devices are introduced to the market.
