MasterCard’s SpendingPulse study of retail sales in Canada showed a 24.9 percent increase in eCommerce sales in the first half of 2012 relative to the prior year. Overall retail sales increased just 2.2 percent, the report says.
“The growth in online sales is a good indicator of how Canadian retailers are capitalizing on the shift of sales from brick and mortar locations to online sales channels,” said Michael McNamara, Vice President of Research and Analysis for MasterCard Advisors SpendingPulse, in a statement.
