Dubai Mall Bets On NFC For Loyalty

The Wafi shopping center in Dubai has announced that they will introduce a loyalty service that will allow customers to collect and redeem loyalty points with mobile phones through NFC or Bluetooth, reports NFC World. The shopping mall currently offers a physical card program for Wafi Rewards members. The program gives users the opportunity to collect points in stores. ViaFone Technologies has developed the new app, which will soon be available to download through mobile phones. To collect points, customers need only tap mobile phones against the shop’s contactless reader. An SMS alert will then be sent to the customer’s phone to notify them of the transaction. A European amusement park is also expected to launch a similar service by the end of the year.
