The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced that it will meet to discuss potential regulations for the Internet of things, and how connected devices share consumer data, Gigaom reported on October 24.

    The regulations would build off of the sensitive data categories the FTC established in its 2012 Privacy Report, when it selected Social Security numbers, geolocation data and health information as data that requires greater consumer consent.
