Smartphone Flaw Exposes PINs To Security Risk

Researchers found the flaw by utilizing software called PIN Skimmer, and discovered that, by using data picked up by the camera during normal smartphone use, hackers could determine which security code numbers the owner is entering.

“We demonstrated that the camera, usually used for conferencing or face recognition, can be used maliciously,” Professors Ross Anderson and Laurent Simon, the authors of a new report detailing the findings, told the BBC in an interview.
