A new crisis emerged this week for Target as thousands of consumers reported malfunctioning gift cards, KMSP-TV reported on December 31.
The retailer estimated that upwards of 40,000 customers have been affected by the issue. According to KMSP-TV, the issue began when Target cashiers scanned an incorrect bar code at the register.
