Banrisul Plans e-Wallet Launch

Banrisul signed a partnership with MasterCard to launch an e-wallet. Service is oriented to online consumers and allows users to save their credit, debit and pre-paid card and personal data in one place. The bank will launch the product in 2014 2H and will be originally targeted to users who already make big purchases online.

    The bank announced that customers will be able to use any payment method supported by MasterPass, accepted in 40k stores globally, to make safe and simple transactions via desktop or mobiles. MasterPass is already working in several countries such as Australia, Canada or US. Banrisul has 2.9M customers.

    Brazil is one of focus countries for MasterPass roll-out in 2014. For this reason, the partnership with Banrisul is strategic for MasterCard’s affirmed Marcelo Tangione, VP of Product for MasterCard Southern Cone.
