Blackhawk, Coinstar Partner On Gift Cards

On December 17, prepaid payment service provider Blackhawk Network announced a partnership with Coinstar to offer gift cards at select locations in the kiosk operator’s network.

    According to a press release issued by Blackhawk, 20,300 kiosks will be enabled to offer gift cards for participating retailers as an alternative to cash. Gap, Lowe’s and the Apple iTunes store are among those taking part in the initiative.

    “The Coinstar relationship brings our digital network capabilities to the physical retail environment,” Tomas Campos, digital general manager for Blackhawk, said in a statement. “It expands the convenience of gift cards to the consumer, while increasing revenue opportunities for retailers.”
