    As more data breaches become public, consumers are finding themselves increasingly less trusting of card-based payment systems, the New York Timesreported on Feb. 2.

    Various consumers, several of whom the Times interviewed, are even taking cash-only pledges to avoid having their sensitive information compromised.

    The Times reached out to Visa, asking whether it had data showing an increase in cash use. The issuer declined to release any information, saying current usage rates are in line with seasonal expectations.
