Deutsche Bank Offers German Customers HCE Mobile Payments

Customers of Deutsche Bank in Germany can now make host card emulation (HCE)–based mobile payments using their Mastercard linked to the bank’s Deutsche Bank Mobile app, according to NFC World.

    As the bank explained in a statement, customers can upload the app onto their Android smartphone (version 4.4 and above) and then use their Mastercard credit or debit card to make cashless payments worldwide at Mastercard acceptance points.

    Deutsche has approximately 300,000 customers with a Mastercard and an Android smartphone, and the bank is the first in Germany to develop this “simple mobile payment” offering.

    According to Banking Technology, Michael Koch, head of digital factory and head of online/mobile banking at Deutsche Bank, wrote in a LinkedIn post, “It’s not about talking. It’s not about a PowerPoint presentation. It’s not about click-dummies. It’s about delivering real solutions for our customers.”
