Mobile Payment Adoption: Which Countries Beat Out the U.S.?

A study by ACI Worldwide offers a new term to identify the world’s most enthusiastic smartphone users — the “smartphonatic” — and quantifies the number of “smartphonatics” living in each country around the world.

India and South Africa are home to the largest percentages of “smartphonatics,” ACI says, with the U.S. coming in at a roughly 20 percent ratio. In India, 76 percent of consumers use some form of mobile banking, the study suggests.
