DDoS Attacks Hit American Express

American Express saw over two hours of downtime following a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on Friday, according to The Daily Dot.

“We experienced intermittent slowing on our website that would have disrupted customers’ ability to access their account information,” AmEx said in an issued statement. “We had a plan in place to defend against a potential attack and have taken steps to minimize ongoing customer impact.”

It is still unclear whether the attack was related to the Spamhaus even in Western Europe or the series of attacks carried out against Western FIs by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters group.
