India’s Private Banks Neck-And-Neck In “Most ATMs” Race

Since last January 2012 until this past January 2013, India’s three largest private banks have increased ATM networks by an impressive 31 percent, reported ATM Marketplace. Coming in first place is HDFC, who grew their network by 44 percent. HDFC expanded their ATM network from 7,346 to 10,583.

    HDFC revealed they were falling behind with the ATM race, previously ranking third.

    The executive director at HDFC, Paresh Sukthankar, stated, “We wanted to catch up. It is important for us to have adequate number of ATMs. If our customer uses other banks’ ATMs, it costs us.”
