Italian lottery operator Lottomatica has selected Ingenico to build and manage its POS terminal network and expand their contactless network across Italy. There are currently over 120,000 Lottomatica POS terminals operating in the country.
“The agreement with Lottomatica is one of the most significant ever signed by Ingenico Italia and the whole team is very enthusiastic and proud,” Luciano Cavazzana, Managing Director of Ingenico Italia said in a release. “Ingenico’s attention to meet Lottomatica’s needs is shown in the quality of the supply and in the ability of specialized personnel to supervise the customer in everyday’s product management and it will remain our focus. In addition, updating all the equipment with new technology will extend the contactless acceptance network to facilitate mobile payments with new equipment, such as smartphones and tablets”.
Lottomatica plans to incorporate a GPRS or Ethernet/TCP-IP communication module with NFC contactless technology into 85,000 of the existing terminals. The company hopes to complete technology improvements by the end of 2013.
