The company has been announced as the first to take on iZettle’s API, first launched in June 2012. The API allows other companies to use the iZettle payment service directly on their apps. This allows businesses to integrate payments into their services seamlessly.

In the case of BookingBug, the API allows businesses to take payments in person through its online booking app. This way, businesses do not have to switch from the booking platform to iZettle app: this is done automatically. Below you can see how the step-by-step process goes.

First the biller opens the appointment page on their BookingBug platform and taps payment:

Second the biller selects iZettle as the payment method:

They are then directed to the iZettle interface and can simply follow the instructions on the screen:

Finally the user is re-directed ot the booking interface where the booking will be marked as paid:

To do this service providers simply need to own an iOS device and an iZettle dongle and sync the iZettle mobile app with BookingBug’s.

BookingBug believes this will be a very welcome addition to their clients who are mostly mobile businesses. “A mobile payment dongle is absolutely vital to our businesses that want to take customer payment on the move – businesses that have traditionally been cash-in-hand,” said Glenn Shoosmith, founder and CEO of BookingBug, speaking to TechCrunch. “For a personal trainer running sessions in the park, or a driving instructor on the move all day there’s no other option for taking mobile card payments.”

PayPal too has announced the launch of new API’s that will lets app makers enable third-party iOS apps with payPal payments.
