MasterCard Enters Alliance In The Middle East

MasterCard has signed on to a new agreement with Middle East Payment Services (MEPS) that will support and improve services such as new payment platforms, reported Gulf Bankers. This alliance will provide these payment services to a group of seven Arab banks in the Middle East, which will increase MasterCard point of sale and ATM usage throughout Jordan and the Levant region (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel and Palestinian territories). Expanding the MasterCard services across the Middle East will help build the global payments network and leverage acquiring new channels.

The Market Manager of MasterCard Levant, El Tell, stated, “The alliance will open up a new ecommerce channel for merchants, which can drive new revenue streams for their businesses.”

MasterCard also revealed plans to launch new platforms in the Jordan and Levant region, such as the MasterCard Internet Gateway Service (MiGS) for online payments as well as the MasterCard Expert Monitoring System (EMS) for fraud security.
