“Sign Up To Ethics Or Leave”, Says Barclays Boss

Barclays boss Antony Jenkins has announced that the bank’s 140,000 will have to sign up to a new code of conduct, or risk leaving the bank. The code of conduct works around five key values: respect, integrity, service, excellence and stewardship. The code of conduct will also help assess employees’ bonuses. “There might be some of you who don’t feel they can fully buy in to an approach which so squarely links performance to the upholding of our values,” said Mr Jenkins. “My message to those people is simple: Barclays is not the place for you. The rules have changed. You won’t feel comfortable at Barclays and, to be frank, we won’t feel comfortable with you as colleagues,” he added.
