American Express Posts Court Victory In Fee Battle

American Express scored an important victory in court this week, as a judge awarded preliminary approval to a settlement between the issuer and a group of U.S. merchants over alleged transaction fee impropriety.

    The deal was given the nod by U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis in New York on Thursday, Bloomberg News reported on Feb. 6.

    American Express will be back in court on Sept.17, where the deal is expected to receive final approval.
