Mobile Users Not Concerned About Security

A new study released by the  Raytheon and Ponemon Institute reports that a little more than half of IT managers are interested in implementing virtualization.

Respondents did not necessarily push for the adoption of  virtualization technology, just that it should be considered.  The survey additionally found that one third of employees used mobile only at and that this number is expected to increase to almost half with a year.  The survey additionally found that 52 percent of organizations admit to having sacrificed security in the name of efficiency, particularly when it comes to mobile connectivity.

A critique of the survey published by InfoWorld Executive Editor Greg Grunlen noted that if a third to half of all workers are working exclusively from their mobile device, then perhaps a system like virtualization, which has a long and established track record of being “very complex,” “hard to deploy successfully on the desktop” and that “has never worked well in mobile,” is sub-ideal.

If security is a prioritywhich it must be, particularly when it comes to the transmission of sensitive data like financial information, asking employees to make a choice between bad outcomes, will probably have a bad results for both security and productivity, noted Grunlen.
