Square Takes Flak As IPO Approaches

Doubts about the Square’s customer service to its merchant network reportedly are weighing down on the company’s plans for a 2014 IPO.

A number of merchants have complained that Square fails to deliver even basic customer service. One customer spent nearly two hours at the company’s San Francisco headquarters before being asked to leave the premises without receiving assistance, the L.A. Times reported on Jan. 17.

In a statement emailed to the Times, a Square representative rejected the claims and said that the company maintains a robust customer service.
