Study: Bank-App Security ‘Vulnerable’

A majority of mobile-banking apps suffer from potentially damaging security flaws, a recent study by information-security firm IOActive suggests.

Of the 40 apps IOActive tested, 90 percent contained a flaw that allows a hacker to intercept signals going to or from a mobile app, thus exposing the app’s owner to potential fraud, Finextra reported on Jan. 13. br>
IOActive urged the world’s major banks to reevaluate security measures in their mobile apps, arguing that more involvement is needed to prevent cyber attacks on consumers’ bank data.
