As of yesterday (Oct. 30), and running through Christmas Day, all Best Buy shipping will be free regardless of order size, much like the retailer did last year. (Target made a similar holiday delivery announcement last week). This delivery move, notably, is not much of a risk for Best Buy. As an electronics seller, most of their online orders qualify for free delivery anyway.

Best Buy also announced news that it will be pushing out the perimeters of its same-day delivery program, which is now available in 40 U.S. metro areas.

In cities where the retailer’s service is currently on offer, customers have until 3:00 p.m. each day local time to place an order to receive it by 9:00 p.m. the same day. That speedy delivery, however, is not free; the customer pays a $6 fee for it.

Best Buy’s shipping service is available for customers seven days a week, though on Sundays the deadlines are shorter.
