The patent for Apple’s airline ticketing and travel platform on the iPhone — dubbed “iTravel” — relies on NFC technology, according to NFC World.

    U.S. patent number 8,215,546 was actually first submitted in April 2010, and was one of several NFC-related patents submitted that year, the report says.
