NRF: Breach Issue Requires Federal Action

    In a letter distributed to the group’s members, Mallory Duncan, the federation’s senior vice president and general counsel, called for the introduction of both chips and PINs in all U.S. cards, a federal-level data breach notification law and an overarching cyber law to ensure faster law-enforcement response times.

    “That is a start, but what we want is a long-term solution, and it is going to require all of us working and investing together to provide one answer,” Duncan wrote. “Retailers will do our part. But we cannot do this alone.”
